Safely defying the elements in the high mountains with their bizarre dimensions. That’s the most magnificent thing there is to me. Ice axes, which you see in the photo, are tools for this. It’s very elemental. To climb to the summit via a rock ridge or ice wall with a combination of perseverance, strength, and technique – and above all, teamwork. I feel like a tiny part of that grand landscape. Year after year, I see glaciers and ice walls melting further. It hurts. That’s why I work on sustainable energy projects.
