Keep learning: the training courses for our Asset Managers<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Climbing turbines, inspecting, analyzing data, monitoring, writing reports, calculating yields…. Our Asset Management team does it all. “To be able and allowed to do this, you obviously need some training,” explains manager Richard Verhoeff<\/a>. “Because safety is paramount while inspecting, we have several trainings every year. The power is in the repetition.” <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“The first year I worked at GreenTrust, I had to go through some training right away. After all, you have to be qualified to enter a wind turbine. So before I got my GWO (Global Wind Organization), BHV (First Aid) and VCA (Safety, Health and Environment Checklist Contractors), I wasn’t allowed to go up there either,” Richard explains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Asset Management team manages wind and solar farms. To do this, they must attend a number of training sessions each year. Many trainings have to do with safety. Every two years, for example, they are required to take GWO training, which teaches you how to work safely at heights, what the risks are and how to safely rescue someone, for example. The VCA (Safety for Operational Managers) must also be obtained by every manager in order to enter the construction site; you must renew it every 10 years. Separately, FAFS training is mandatory once every two years, and at GreenTrust we do it even annually. “Also, our entire team is an inspector for lifting equipment and fall protection,” Richard explains. “For example, think about ropes, chains and harnesses. This judging must be passed every four years.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these regular training sessions, there are training sessions for executives, such as the Installation Responsible (IV) training. GreenTrust employees Filippos Amoiralis<\/a> and Senne Koetsier<\/a> obtained this several years ago. Kazim Dinckan<\/a> and Richard Verhoeff<\/a> did the NEN3140 training, which precedes the IV training and deals with working safely with electricity. “Last year our whole team also had evacuator training. The evacuator is an automatic descent system that allows people to descend quickly and safely from great heights in an emergency.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Separate certificate for elevators<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to regular safety training, a separate certificate is required for the use of service elevators in wind turbines. This certification ensures that our operators are competent to safely inspect and operate service elevators. They learn how to do the daily check and how to verify that the service elevator is safe for use, that the brakes are working and that it is in good condition. You must have a certificate for each type of elevator, and you must update it once every two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every wind farm and turbine is different<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For each wind farm, our team needs an inspection method statetement and must be familiar with the specific HSE rules apply at that particular farm. In doing so, each type of wind turbine is different. This is why our team attends specialized training for various manufacturers. “During these trainings we learn, for example, how to safely shut down and operate a turbine and how to safely enter the hub and nacelle,” Richard explains. “In every training, certain important aspects come back again and again: be risk-aware, think through every step, and discuss in advance what you’re going to do and how you’re going to do it before you go into the turbine. This is good to think about every time and, of course, the power is in the repetition.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
