Managing and monitoring assets and planners<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

‘Good morning with Anik.’ ‘Hi Anik, we would like to sign up for Oostzeedijk Wind Farm.’ ‘Thank you for passing on. What are you guys going to do today? Are you there for maintenance or a breakdown?’ ‘We are there for maintenance, this is the first day of the five.’ ‘Super, that matches the work permit I see. I’ll sign you up for today. What are the names? Good luck today!’ <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Asset Manager Anik Damajanti<\/a> gets calls from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from mechanics signing in and out to perform work at wind turbines. GreenTrust currently manages over 100 wind turbines, to monitor them properly we have seven skilled administrators at GreenTrust. Anik talks about her role as technical administrative assistant, “I support our team with administrative tasks, so they have more space for analysis and solving the daily challenges around the projects. It makes me happy that I can help my team and make their work easier. Then again, of course that’s easy in the nicest team at GreenTrust,’ says Anik with a wink. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Anik ensures that work requests are monitored and rules are followed. She does this by approving or rejecting applications and recording details. ‘When something happens that is not recorded, we have a problem later,’ Anik explained. For wind farm monitoring, it uses three main programs: Sweep, Windy and Powerfactors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work permits monitoring<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

‘Sweep is the program in which we receive work requests. Here I check all work permits and agreements and assess the urgency of planned work. For example, when breakdowns occur, they must be resolved as quickly as possible so that the turbines can once again run at maximum capacity. For work requests, in Sweep can see which mechanics are working and exactly what they are doing. If a mechanic shows up without a work permit, I contact the scheduler to find out what’s going on,” Anik explains. ‘We make sure that the people who will be working in the wind turbines have received the proper training and instructions and in the case of special work, this is checked by a safety expert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Informing Off-takers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When a work permit is approved, Anik informs the off-taker. ‘We also do this when a turbine has an outage for an extended period of time. With this we ensure that the imbalance is reduced. An important part is to ensure that the planning of the work permit is translated into the right information for the off-taker. Anik ensures that based on the scheduling of the mechanics and the type of work, that the off -taker receives the correct beschickbaaheid planning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Negotiate<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Windy is a wind map that displays weather forecasts. Anik: “We use it to see if the work can be done safely and to make sure that maintenance takes place on days with lower energy yields. The advantage of Windy is that you can see multiple forecast models at the same time, allowing you to make better predictions. For the wind farms, it is of course important to generate as much revenue as possible. That’s why we have to regularly consult and negotiate with the planners of the mechanics. They want to deploy their people when they have enough staff, but that doesn’t always correspond to the weather. Fortunately, we have good relationships with the planners and our asset managers are good at finding the best way. Sometimes you also have to give something to get something back.’ <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monitoring wind turbines<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the Powerfactors program, we monitor wind turbines. There are times when a turbine does not produce power or produces less power. ‘If so, we check whether the reason is known to us and what caused it. If it is a breakdown, we check whether we have already received a work request. If not, we contact the planner to schedule someone and solve the problem,’ Anik explains. ‘When mechanics are working, the turbines are at a standstill. During sign-off, we ask the mechanics what they did to resolve the outage and whether any work remains open. The asset managers use this information to determine trends in the performance of the wind turbines and to ensure that issues do not remain open for long or that failures are resolved permanently. In addition, we check whether the turbines are running properly again and record this’. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the day, the phone rings almost every ten minutes: ‘Ha Anik, here we are again. How are you? We want to sign out for today. Tomorrow the weather looks bad so we probably won’t go to work then.’ ‘Thank you for passing on. I see you have a few more days of work permit so then I’ll sign you out for today and put the work permit on pause. It will go back on as soon as you sign in. Are there any other particulars I should report?” “No, nothing further. Thank you Anik! <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
