Wind turbine against the dyke
Delta Noord consists of one Vestas V117 turbine, which has been upgraded from 3.3 MW to 3.5 MW. The turbine is located in the north of the Netherlands, among other wind farms. After construction, GreenTrust continues to manage it.
Building with strong winds
At the Delta Noord wind turbine, the wind can blow incredibly hard. Perfect for a wind turbine, but a challenge during construction. Due to the strong winds, it is not always possible to use cranes. This makes planning a greater challenge. Building against the dyke also posed an additional challenge. This required slope angle measurements (inclinometer measurements). And during the pile driving, we had to monitor the dike extra carefully.
Delta Noord was the first project I was allowed to build on my own as a project manager. So it was very special for me. And even though it’s just one turbine, you encounter all the hurdles you normally face in construction here as well. But in the end, it became a great first construction project.

Several GreenTrust members have been involved with Wind Park Delta Noord. Klaas handled the tendering process and Lieuwe led the construction. Together, they supported the grid connection. Kazim manages the turbine.
