Wind Park Oostzeedijk

Efficient grid usage

The three Vestas V90 turbines of the ‘old’ Wind Park Kats have been replaced by three Nordex N149 turbines. This has increased the wind farm’s output from 9 MW to 15 MW. The Nordex turbines have a rotor of 149 meters, a hub height of 125 meters, and a tip height of 199 meters.

Kingfish, a fish farm in the vicinity of the wind farm, needed a connection to the electricity grid. The wind farm already had a cable to the Goes de Poel high-voltage station. This led to the idea of a partnership and a closed distribution center, where both the fish farm and the wind farm are connected. The electricity produced by the wind farm goes directly to Kingfish. The load on the power grid is thus much less than if the wind farm and fish farm each had a separate grid connection. Want to know more about this distribution system? Energy cooperative Zeeuwind explains it in a video on YouTube.

Planning

In June 2024, the construction of the ‘new’ turbines began. In the autumn, the turbines were taken over. After that, the project was transferred to Zeeuwind for management.

At Wind Park Oostzeedijk, we sought local collaboration to efficiently use the grid connection. This has been very successful. The capacity of the wind turbines could be increased because the fish farm needed electricity. By efficiently regulating, we were able to install larger turbines. Additionally, the collaboration with the contractor H4A was very good, making it a successful project.

GreenTrust’s Role

Multiple GreenTrust team members worked on Wind Farm Oostzeedijk. Joost handled the financing, Bojan created the technical drawings, and Tijs supervised the construction.
