Solar Park de Grift
Cable pooling
Solar Park de Grift is located next to Wind Park Nijmegen-Betuwe, along the A15 highway near Nijmegen. As one of the first cooperative solar parks in the Netherlands, it utilizes cable pooling, where the wind park and solar park share a grid connection. With over 11,000 panels, the solar park has been providing sustainable energy for approximately 1500 households since 2022.
Smart use of cables
Solar Park de Grift is the second project of Energy Cooperative WPN (formerly WindpowerNijmegen). People from the surrounding area are owners of the solar park through the cooperative and have jointly invested money to realize the project.
The combination of wind and solar energy provides benefits. When it’s windy, the wind turbines generate electricity. When the sun shines, the energy comes from the solar park. The generated power is transmitted to the electricity grid via a single cable.

For GreenTrust, this was the first cable pooling project. It was a learning process that yielded many valuable insights. Because while you may understand how cable pooling works in theory, it’s always exciting to see how it plays out in practice. The answer: well! The solar park is now running at full capacity.
GreenTrust’s Role
Several GreenTrust team members are involved with Solar Park de Grift. Filippos assisted with connecting the cables from the wind and solar parks and updating the IT network. Senne is responsible for the park’s management.
