Wind park Waardpolder
More efficient through redevelopment
In the North Holland Waardpolder, 19 wind turbines made way for six larger wind turbines (Nordex N131 type). Since 2020, these have provided enough power for some 22,000 to 24,000 households each year.
From nineteen to six wind turbines
In 2006, the surrounding landowners of a Nuon wind farm in the Waardpolder (municipality of Hollands Kroon) united to form the BV WP Energiek. They bought the park with the ambition of redeveloping it with more efficient wind turbines. After a long restructuring process, financing for the project came through in 2018. Construction began in 2019. The 19 old Nedwind wind turbines have given way to six larger wind turbines (type Nordex N131). Operational since 2020, the park provides enough energy to power some 22,000 to 24,000 households annually. More information about the project can be found on the WP Energiek website.

I think Waardpolder Wind park is a cool project. Local residents uniting to buy and restructure a wind farm together: that is truly entrepreneurial! Completing the financing was a challenging process, both for me and the initiators. But in the end, thanks to true North Holland perseverance, we succeeded and the six wind turbines are up and running!
