Joost Cornelli Takes Over from Tijmen Keesmaat

After years of development, preparation, and ultimately the successful completion of the A2 Lage Rooijen Community Wind Farm, there is a change in the wind farm’s management. Tijmen Keesmaat is handing the reins over to GreenTruster Joost Cornelli. Together with co-director Gijs van Hout, Joost will form the management team of the community wind farm.

For Joost, the A2 Lage Rooijen Community Wind Farm is certainly not unfamiliar territory. He was already closely involved in the project as the procurement and financing project manager and played a key role as contract manager during the wind farm’s construction. His responsibilities included managing the purchase and maintenance contracts for the wind turbines, as well as leading discussions with landowners and the advisory group. As a result, he is familiar not only with the turbines, infrastructure, and contracts, but also with the people and organizations behind the wind farm.

Joost has been with GreenTrust for more than ten years and has worked on a large number of wind energy projects during that time. He now leads GreenTrust’s procurement and construction team. Previously, he was involved in projects such as the Nijmegen-Betuwe Wind Farm, the Hellegatsplein Wind Farm, and the Kroningswind Wind Farm. His experience ranges from tendering and contracting to technical design, construction supervision, and project management.

That broad technical and organizational knowledge will come in handy in his new role. Joost is known for being pragmatic, process-oriented, and a team player: someone who enjoys collaborating, but also understands what’s technically required to ensure a wind farm operates safely and efficiently. Belgian by birth, but after all these years working on Dutch wind projects, he’s practically Dutch now.

A special project
The A2 Lage Rooijen community wind farm consists of three wind turbines and was officially commissioned in January 2026. The wind farm generates enough local renewable energy to power approximately 10,000 households. Another unique aspect is its strong local character: the Bommelerwaar Cooperative owns 50 percent of the wind farm. This makes the community-owned wind farm not only a technical project but, above all, an example of local ownership and collaboration in the energy transition.

For Tijmen Keesmaat, the change in leadership marks the end of a long and intensive period of involvement. He was already involved in the wind farm from the very beginning, when the first plans began to take shape about fifteen years ago. From an initiative on paper, through development, zoning procedures, and financing, to the construction and commissioning of three operational turbines: over the years, many steps have been taken and challenges overcome.

Tijmen played an important role in this. With his tenacity, knowledge of development, and focus on collaboration, he helped turn a long-standing idea into reality. It’s a result to be proud of. “I thoroughly enjoyed working on this cooperative wind farm. GreenTrust always strives for a socially and environmentally inclusive approach, and this community-owned wind farm proves once again that this approach is successful. I’m certain that Joost will enjoy working in this environment just as much, and I’m leaving my work in good hands,” Tijmen says.

Tijmen, thank you so much for everything you’ve done for Burgerwindpark A2 Lage Rooijen over the years. With Joost as your successor, a great deal of knowledge and experience related to the project will be preserved. He knows the wind farm inside and out and is now bringing that experience to the next phase: the continued development of a safe, reliable, and successful community wind farm.
