Wind park Zeewolde
Modern wind turbines
Since 2020, the 220 wind turbines of wind park Zeewolde have been replaced step by step with 83 larger, more modern wind turbines. This allows most of the turbines to continue running as usual during construction. The wind park provides green power for some 280,000 households in southern Flevoland. All old wind turbines are expected to be demolished by the end of 2026.
Europe’s largest farmer-citizen collective
Wind park Zeewolde is an initiative of Zeewolde Development Association. Over 90% of the landowners, farmers, residents and entrepreneurs in development area southern Flevoland are shareholders in the wind park. Together they form the largest farmer-citizen wind collective in Europe.
New wind turbines and rehabilitation of existing turbines
The 220 old wind turbines in the area are gradually giving way to 83 modern wind turbines. With the new turbines, wind park Zeewolde will provide clean energy for about 280,000 households since 2022. That is 2.5 times more than was generated by the old mills. Initiator wind park Zeewolde is responsible for both realizing the new turbines and rehabilitating the old turbines. This is a condition of Zeewolde municipality and Flevoland province. The old mills are expected to be demolished by the end of 2026. Want to know more about wind park Zeewolde? I think Zeewolde is a cool project to work on. During a tender, you get an inside look at wind turbine manufacturers offering the latest technology. It is fascinating to see the speed of development. I am pleased to have been able to contribute to the guarantees of wind turbine performance in terms of noise, emissions and electricity generation.
