Socially inclusive development: getting further together

GreenTrust is further expanding its international operations with the addition of a fourth wind turbine at Cahermurphy Wind Farm in County Clare, Ireland. This wind-rich area along the west coast provides excellent conditions for renewable energy generation.

Powerful expansion: Enercon E115-4.2MW
The existing wind park, which already has three Enercon E92 turbines, is being reinforced with a powerful Enercon E115-4.2MW turbine. GreenTrust, as with the development of the original wind park, is playing a key role in this project. We are supporting Mid Clare Renewable Energy DAC with asset management and are closely involved in the preparation and implementation of this expansion.

From contracting to financing: our contribution
Our team handled the turbine and Balance of Plant (BOP) contracting. This includes essential infrastructure such as foundations, roads and cables. We also arranged the power purchase agreement (PPA) and successfully supervised the financing. Financial close was reached on Friday, April 15, which means construction is now officially underway.

Construction supervision and planning
In addition to the preparation, we also take on the construction supervision to ensure that the process runs smoothly and efficiently. Joost Cornelli, project manager: “We are delighted to have reached this milestone and that the wind park will now have the fourth turbine, as was always intended. This is an important step for renewable energy in County Clare, and we look forward to seeing the new turbine in operation in 2025.”

Logistics and delivery in 2025
The turbine components have already been produced and will be transported by ship from Germany and Portugal to Ireland in early April. If all goes according to plan, they will arrive on site in mid to late April. Construction will start immediately thereafter, with the goal of having the new turbine operational by June 2025.

Contribution to renewable energy
With this expansion, we are taking another step in our international commitment to renewable energy. Wind park Cahermurphy continues to grow and contribute even more to the energy transition.
