Battery De Blauwe Poort

In the municipality of Laarbeek lies Solar Park De Blauwe Poort. The park is being supplemented with a battery storage system that can store 2 MW of energy. GreenTrust is working on a preliminary request and calculating the revenue model.

Energy storage

For now, we are assuming a storage system with a 2 MW battery. Installation of the battery can start in early 2025 at the earliest, as delivery times for batteries are long.

When selecting the battery type, we consider both power and capacity. Compare a battery to a water bottle. The size of the bottle opening determines the power, or how quickly or slowly the water flows out. The size of the bottle itself determines the capacity. Translated to the battery: how long it can deliver power. These parameters also determine how quickly the bottle can be refilled. This can vary from ten minutes to ten hours. The ratio between power and capacity largely determines what you can best use the battery for. A battery with higher power and larger capacity is naturally more expensive. The optimal ratios vary per project.

Sun, water, and nature

Solar Park De Blauwe Poort is located next to the nature reserve of the same name in the municipality of Laarbeek. Sun, water, and nature contribute to the sustainability of the region at this location. The project is an initiative by GreenTrust in collaboration with local landowners. Brabant’s Eigen Energie.net has joined as a partner for the construction. The solar park was developed in consultation with local stakeholders, such as Stichting Platform Duurzaam Laarbeek and the cooperative Laarbeek Energie.
