WInd park Hellegatsplein
On the Delta Works
Atop the Delta Works stands wind park Hellegatsplein. The four wind turbines have a combined installed capacity of 12 MW since 2015. Enough to provide 16,500 households in the Netherlands with sustainable electricity each year. Wind park Hellegatsplein was developed on behalf of Qurrent. GreenTrust supported in the tendering, engineering and construction.
Unique truly Dutch location
The four Alstom Eco110 wind turbines of 3 MW each were built in one year in 2015, on top of the Delta Works. A unique and truly Dutch location.
Sustainable power plant
In 2020, energy provider Greenchoice and Greener Power Solutions also built a flex plaza for mobile battery containers. The plaza accommodates ten mobile batteries. These are connected to the national power grid and are charged directly by the four wind turbines present. Thus, the wind park has become a renewable power plant. The ultimate goal: to make fossil fuel power plants obsolete.
Fidelity during construction
Special anecdote on this project: all project team members – the project director, site manager and our Joost – got married during construction.
Role GreenTrust
Jeroen supervised the contracting of the wind turbines for this project. Joost did the rest of the tendering and contracting and supervised construction. Romana contributed to the technical design.
This was my first project for GreenTrust and therefore extra special! It was immediately a challenging assignment, with construction on top of part of the Delta Works. I coordinated a lot with stakeholders such as the Department of Public Works, the Recreation Board, the Forestry Commission, the province and Stedin. I am proud that we were able to realize this. Every time I pass the wind farm, I think back to it with great pleasure.
