Wind park Kroningswind

nature, renewable energy and farmers

Kroningswind is an initiative of eleven farming families on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee in South Holland. There are 19 wind turbines built with a combined capacity between 70-80MW.

Cooperation on all fronts

The development of this project involved collaboration on several fronts. The Municipality of Goeree-Overflakkee and local farmers worked together to enable the development of 19 wind turbines and the combination of renewable energy and nature.

Festive opening in 2022

After achieving financial close in November 2020, the first pile was driven into the ground in May 2021. Almost a year later, the first wind turbine stood and in November 2022, the entire wind farm was festively opened by Mayor Ada Grootenboer-Dubbelman (Goeree-Overflakkee) and Stéphanie Dobbelaere (Investment Director Energy Transition at TINC). All together, the 19 turbines generate about 80 MW of electrical power per year, providing green power to about 65,000 households. Wind Fund Goeree-Overflakkee

Wind park Kroningswind believes it is important for the surrounding area to benefit from the wind turbines. This is why the wind farm contributes to Windfonds Goeree-Overflakkee. From every MWh of electricity generated, Windpark Kroningswind deposits €0.50 per MWh into the Wind Fund. The amount of the deposit is intended for projects that can be submitted by local residents and organizations within and radius of 3.5 kilometers around the wind park. They can apply for a local sustainable initiative. For more information, visit the website at www.windfondsgo.nl.

Role GreenTrust

Several GreenTrusters are underway for wind park Kroningswind. GreenTrust’s founder Klaas Guldie fulfilled the role of project director and handled the contracting and tendering, together with Lieuwe Dragt. Now that the project has reached the operational phase, Senne Koetsier is the operations manager and Corine van Woudenberg and Dejana Prokic take care of financial management. Bojan took care of the technical drawings. Eva de Zeeuw is acting as stakeholder and communications manager. Lisa Hoffard and Annelies Wesselink are involved as lawyers in, among other things, the land file, Willem Jaap de Vries in the permits, and Anja Beld provides overall project support and document management.
