Wind park Westerse Polder
Replacement and scaling up
After 20 years, the current wind park Westerse Polder was in need of replacement. The seven wind turbines of the existing wind park were replaced by five Enercon E-126 EP3 wind turbines. Commissioned by Investment Engineering Projects, GreenTrust handled the development, tendering and construction.
A hefty scale-up
From seven wind turbines with a combined installed capacity of 3.5 MW to five Enercon E-126 wind turbines with a power output of 4 MW per wind turbine. That means a big scale up in returns! The E-126 has a rotor diameter of 127 meters and a shaft height of 135 meters.
Green power
The old wind turbines generated enough power for 1,500 households. The new ones have been generating green power for some 20,000 households since the summer of 2021. Significantly more so with fewer turbines.
Local residents of the wind park can participate in the wind farm through a bond issue. Want to read more about this project? You can do so through the project website.

It is special to work on such a major redevelopment. Previously, the combined installed capacity of the seven “two-capacity” houses was 3.5 MW. Now each wind turbine individually already has more power. That way we can generate more with fewer wind turbines in the same location. That’s a great technical development!
Role GreenTrust
Jorick Messink was involved in the development of the Western Polder project. Joost did the tendering process and supervised construction. Klaas and Jeroen were also involved in the tender process. Lieuwe drafted the PPA and extracted it from the market. Romana provided the technical design. Filippos does the operational management.
