Wind park Egchelse Heide

Cooperative wind park

Wind park Egchelse Heide consists of five wind turbines in the municipality of Peel and Maas. The project was realized in cooperation with the local energy cooperative Peel Energie. GreenTrust participates in this project, supported its development and provides operational management.

Cooperation with local energy cooperative

Wind park Egchelse Heide is a collaboration with energy cooperative Peel Energie. The initiators of this wind farm want the surrounding area to benefit the most from the project. Therefore, a three million euro bond at attractive interest rates was issued in 2020, with the environment given priority for subscription. Over 75% of the amount raised ended up coming from residents of Peel & Maas.

New challenges: solar, hydrogen and energy storage

With an irrevocable environmental permit and financial close in hand, construction of the wind farm began in mid-2020. On Sept. 24, 2020, the first pile went into the ground, and the five wind turbines (type E138) were completed by the end of 2021. Meanwhile, new challenges were hard at work. Such as solar on rooftops of several farms, green hydrogen and the so-called Battolyser. Read more about this project via the website.

Developing a wind park in my own backyard in Limburg is a dream come true. The fact that we are doing it together with the environment, making it a true civic park, makes it even more beautiful to me.
